- Is the company running a standard LAN architecture at all sites or do they vary?
- Examples: Ethernet, FIDDI, Token Ring, 802.11 etc.
- Note the bandwidth on each LAN site.
- Identify the network media in place. Examples: Fiber Optic, Unshielded Twisted Pair Copper, Wireless, Satellite.
Wide Area Network Architectures
- Identify the WAN technologies used to interconnect your company’s Local Area Networks.
- Examples: 10 Gigabit Ethernet, T1 Carrier Family, Frame Relay, X.25, SONET, ISDN, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM).
- Develop a diagram that shows the WAN interconnection of all LAN sites company wide.
- Note the bandwidth on all WAN links interconnecting LAN sites
