Here’s an executive summary of the mock company
Our service idea combines ideas from UberEats, Molly Maid, Wag!, and various service businesses to create an All-In-One application for the city of Richmond, Kentucky. “Extra Hands” utilizes college students and others would like to add an additional source of income in their spare time. Similar to other mobile app service providers, each contractor will be required to do a background check, commit to at least 10 hours a week, and have a valid government identification card or passport.
“Extra Hands” encompasses maintenance and housework such as: dog walking, grocery shopping and pick up, domestic services such as laundry and nannying, food delivery, among a few other. Our ultimate goal is to provide stress-free living to our customers. We empower our clients to forget about the daily to-do’s and make time for more important priorities.
Our current target is the city of Richmond and the surrounding cities (Berea, Lexington, etc.) This application can benefit college students, busy families, and the elderly. We do not discriminate who works for us if they are 18 years or older and meet the other requirements mentioned in the first paragraph. Richmond has a population of about 35,000 people and no app like this currently is available in the area.
Each service has a different cost and a percentage of that cost will go to our company to take care of overhead and other expenses to cover start-up. The app design will be decided by our team with the help of Matthew McKee, an Apple app developer willing to provide his knowledge and expertise for free. Our app offers one month free of service charge, and then a monthly fee of $2.99.
“Extra Hands” contractors can bill their clients in a variety of ways. Some charge membership fees based on how many requests are usually made per month. Others may want to bill on monthly retainers as a part of our premium service that will be offered later than the initial app launch. Referral fees can also take an amount off the total cost for the users of the app. This business idea is innovative because it gives college students, and people with spare time, the ability to sign-up and earn money while helping relieve others of their every day stresses. Many people can benefit from this app because who doesn’t need an ‘extra hand’ every now and then!
