Discussion: Vietnam and Decolonization
The period of Decolonization after World War II marked the beginning of the end of Western imperialism and the start of numerous nationalist independence movements in the previously colonized areas. For this week’s discussion please read in detail the Vietnamese Declaration of Independence. Then skim over the American version.
How do they compare?
Do you feel that the fear of the spread of Communism was enough to justify French control of Vietnam?
Why or why not?
